happy valentine's day + cupcakes

I hope you had a mushy, lovey dovey Valentine's Day and weekend!  We did...and we still have another day off school tomorrow, too!

On Saturday, the big boys were playing Wii games, so the two littlest and I made cupcakes.

I frosted and Sister decorated.  Her technique is to eat a handful for every one piece she puts on...but it works. :)

Heart shaped silicone cupcake cups are from JoAnn a few years ago.  I usually use them for bento lunches, but they seemed fitting for cupcake toppings, too!

diy: valentine memory game

I made this simple little memory game for my 3 year old the other day.

She sees her older brothers playing and always wants in on the action, but they play with so many cards it's still a little tricky for her patience and ability.

So with just six pairs, this is a good starter game for her, and it's cute, too!

To make a game, you'll need:

small wooden discs {I found mine in the dollhouse section of Michael's}
craft paint and brushes
stencils or craft punch {optional if you have a steady hand!!}
sealant
drawstring storage pouch {optional}

Then all you need to do to is paint hearts on pairs of the discs.  I wasn't crazy about how my free handed hearts looked, so I used a heart punch to make a stencil to trace and then fill in.

After the paint has dried, paint a thin coat of glossy sealant on the wooden discs, and you're done!

green army men valentine party favors + printable

Here's our last school valentine idea for the year. {links to all the others at the end of this post :)}

These are for our kindergartner who is enamored with all things camouflage/army/marine/pilot/tanks/grenades right now.

I bought these little army guys from amazon here, but we have tons of them all over the house that I've also bought at Target and the toy store...they're pretty easy to find.

Click here to download the free printable cards.

Trim your cardstock to 4.25 inches x 5 inches and print {remember to adjust your printer tray!}

Use a punch to make two small holes in the card and tie baker's twine or string around army men to attach them to the cards.

And if you'd like to see our other valentines from the past:

heart balloon + washi tape valentines
