We're long time lovers of Plum Organics in this house {remember when I made these??  Yum!} and in honor of their Mighty Tots line and launch of a series of videos on YouTube meant to capture the whimsical moments and spirited ramblings of toddlers, they've asked me to share some of the memorable things my own littles have said.  

I spent an evening last week looking through baby books to find some of the sweet toddler mispronunciations my own littles have come up with over the years {and that I never had the heart to correct because of the cuteness!}

"peter butter" = peanut butter
"eye bulb" = eye ball
"shin gardens" = shin guards
"heart beep" = heart beat
"mindow" = window
"yadder" = ladder
"meow" = my oldest's name for any animal he saw until he was almost 3
"pumple rump skin" = Rumplestiltskin

It was a fun trip down memory lane. :)

simple homemade baby food with cuisinart

If you follow along with me on instagram, you that I gave birth to our fourth little last weekend.
And of course I'll share that {crazy} {almost had him in the parking lot} story eventually, right now I'm a wee bit sleep deprived and trying to adjust to being way outnumbered...

So a baby who is barely a week old doesn't need baby food yet...but I know how much I've enjoyed making baby food in the past...total mama love in those meals!!  Plus...I like to think about the money I save DIYing it...and food that is super fresh without a shelf life really makes me feel good about doing it.

I've always made single ingredient fruit and veggie blends and then worked my way up to whole meals of meats/veggies/fruits.

While I've been up in the middle of the night nursing my little buddy and surfing pinterest, I've found some others I'm saving for later...

diy freezer paper stencil firework bags

Usually we venture out on the 4th for a fireworks show.
This year, we know we'll either have a newborn or be on high alert to get to the hospital...so we're going low key.

I still want the boys to have some festive fun, so I put together little bags for them, filled with "fireworks" that are mellow enough for them to handle...sparklers, smoke bombs, party poppers, and snaps.

I made these in the same way that I made our Valentine treat bags...
{and I go into even more detail on freezer paper stenciling here, too}

What you'll need:
muslin bags
paint {I used Martha Stewart Crafts paint in poodle skirt, habanero, wild blueberry, and blue sky}
spouncer/paint brush/sponge for applying paint
FREEZER paper {someone always asks...not wax paper or parchment paper...freezer paper only!}
star punch {mine is a few years old, also from Martha Stewart} or a steady hand and an X-acto knife
iron

How to do it:
Start by punching/cutting star shapes out of the freezer paper.
Iron freezer paper, shiny side down to bags.
Slide an index card or scrap card stock inside bags to prevent paint from bleeding through, and apply paint inside stencils.  {I think it's best to start on the outside of the stencil and work in towards the center so paint doesn't seep outside the stencil}
Allow paint to dry and peel off freezer paper.
Fill with your choice of age-appropriate fireworks and have fun!!
