tent building and the night before halloween.

This post sponsored by OshKosh B'gosh.  All opinions are my own.  As always, thanks for reading!! xoxo

I've had the Cakies A-frame tent on my to do list pretty much forever.  {Like...wanted to do this on Christmas Eve.  Last year.}  But anyway.  It's done now and it's an awesome addition to our family room.

With three littles, forts and hiding spots and any excuse to use flashlights are big in this house...so of course I knew a tent of their own would be something they'd love.

And when OshKosh B'gosh challenged their holiday blogging partners to make a fort, I knew it was time to finally get my act together and do it.

Rubyellen's tutorial does a great job of explaining dimensions and how to assemble the tent...so no need to do that here...but I did modify her directions by using heavier weight home dec fabric rather than a sheet and I also added non-slip rubber grips to the bottom of the tent posts because the whole thing was slipping and sliding and collapsing like crazy on our hardwood floors.

While the boys were busy carving away at their pumpkins {and sister was busy squishing/throwing pumpkin guts...ugh}, I sneaked off to set up the tent and slip Hotel Transylvania into the dvd.

I lined the tent with twinkly lights, filled it with cozy pillows and blankets, and put a few treats and glow sticks in their pumpkin buckets for fun.

When the boys were done carving {more like stabbing while my husband carved!}, we snuggled up, ordered a pizza, and enjoyed the show.  Such a fun night...and hopefully one they'll remember.  {You know...at least this part...NOT the part with me breaking up the fighting over the carving tools...or constantly telling them no to "just one more piece" of trick or treater candy...or me grumbling about pumpkin insides smeared on the floor...or my freak out over the uncapped Sharpie that's STILL missing...}

And in case you were wondering...a tent is just as much fun in the daytime as it is in the dark. :)

I won't lie...seeing the twinkly tent lights and their reflection on the floor has me super excited about the start of the holiday season and twinkly Christmas tree lights and all the fun that time of year brings. I'll be sharing a few more projects soon and some of my faves from the OshKosh B’gosh Holiday Shop...fun tees, cute corduroys and adorable dress-up outfits...totally perfect for holiday photos. {I'm hoping for more success than last year.  Ha!}

teacher trick or treat boxes and glitter clothespins

I really enjoy putting together boxes full of goodies for the boys' teachers {like these and these and these and these}...they spend a whole lot of time with my boys and I want them to know they're appreciated!

These are what I'm sending to school for Halloween.

Just a few simple treats in Halloweeny colors...tangerine Izze, kettle corn, mints, gum, fruit leather, HELLO chocolate...

Muslin bags are Martha Stewart.

I tied each box with an orange satin ribbon and then clipped a little note with a glittered spider clothespin that I made.  I think they're a fun Halloween touch and were super easy to make.

All I did was brush on a coat of Mod Podge and then sprinkle them with glitter {Martha glitter again of course :)}.

Then I took a plastic spider and hot glued it to the top.  Done!

Only one more day til Halloween!  My littles are sooo excited!!

last minute halloween: printable trick or treat bags

Yesterday I instagrammed what I thought was going to be my last Halloween project this year.

I lied. ;)

I like to give out a little extra trick or treat candy for our neighbor friends that ring our doorbell, so I printed these fun treat bags.
Much easier than running to the store!
To download the trick or treat bag printable {for 5 x 7 bags}, click here.
Happy Halloween!

gifting: a tiny succulent garden

Today we celebrated my grandma's birthday {she claims it's her 21st...I'm not so sure about that. Ha! ;)}
We went to my parents' house for cake and presents...this litle succulent garden was our gift.

I think everyone knows about my love of succulents...{I've shared here and here}...and I really like how this little garden turned out too.
My grandma is not an easy lady to shop for!

And if you're wondering: the lacy pot is from Ikea, plants are from Home Depot, fawn is from the toy store, flags made by me.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, friends!
We're off to the pumpkin patch tomorrow...I'm not going to be able to sleep I'm so excited!!! :) :)

oh October.

This post sponsored by OshKosh B'gosh.  All opinions are my own.  As always, thanks for reading! xoxo

Like pretty much every other blogger out there, October's pretty much my fave.
Crunchy leaves, pumpkin picking, homemade apple cider.

But even with all my love for October, I know in the back of my mind winter is just a short leap away.
Less glamourous than the leaves and pumpkin patches are the cold weather and snow.
It's pretty, but it's cold.

Once again I've teamed up with OshKosh B'gosh for their winter campaign and to host a giveaway for a $50 gift card to a lucky reader!

I've shared my love for OshKosh before...it's a brand that I think I've just always known and feel good about dressing my littles in.  Right now, just in time for the cooler weather, you can get 50% off kids winter clothes in the winter shop.

If you live in a climate that's anything like Chicago, the next several months are going to be spent bundling up.  The fitted jacket with a fleece-lined hood is perfect for cooler temperatures and will keep my boys warm and toasty, but the 4-in-1 Jacket and detachable jackets are super versatile too...and a great value!  And of all the other choices of boys' winter clothes, the heavyweight parka is one of the warmest options...which is exactly what we need!

Of course there's also my boys' favorite part of being outside in winter...snow bibs.  It's like they're part of their little cold weather uniforms.  What's nice for me is that they all match back to the jackets, so they're the perfect pair...the boys certainly don't notice those details!! {And if I could only get them to remember to go potty BEFORE getting their snow bibs and jackets on... ;)}

I'm also venturing into new winter territory this year...Baby Sister playing in the snow.  Gone are my days of bundling her up in a tiny snowsuit and holding her while we watch the boys play.

Whatever they do...she does.
Right in the middle of the action.
Every time.

So a great option for girls' winter clothes on cold days is the puffy bubble jacket...I like how it has a fleece-lined hood and plenty of weather protection...so not only is it great for layered looks, but it will keep her warm playing in the snow or waiting for her brothers to get out of school!  {And the fun, girly details like polka dots {yay!}, colors and floral prints don't hurt either. :)}

You can find OshKosh B'gosh online here.
Their winter shop here.
