homemade donuts & the last day of summer vacation
The boys asked for donuts for their final summer vacation breakfast.
Of course I said yes.
Always say yes to donuts. ;)
I've shared how I make my cheater cinnamon sugar donuts before.
{and why I have a picture of flaky biscuits on there is beyond me...use regular biscuits!!}
And that's how I make all my donuts.
Fried, store bought dough.
Usually the super cheap Walmart kind, too.
But it's so easy!!
The donuts I've baked before have turned out looking good, but never tasted quite right.
Gotta fry 'em up.
Trust me.
So today I made half a batch of cinnamon sugar and half a batch dipped in glaze.
Glazed donuts are actually my favorite so maybe that half batch should've been a whole. ;)
I think I've shared the glaze recipe before?? I drizzle it on pumpkin muffins {pin that super easy recipe for a few weeks from now when we've all got fall/pumpkin fever!!} and other baked desserts A LOT.
In a small bowl deep enough for dipping, whisk together:
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup cold water
{for the pink glaze, I substituted a tiny scoop of strawberry Jello powder for the vanilla}
And I shared on instagram that my husband totally rolled his eyes as the UPS man delivered a whole case of pink bakery boxes...
but they look so cute stuffed full of donuts!
