instagram, week six

Did you hear about the crisis?

I'm glad we all made it through.
It was hard.

Hours.  Hours without sharing pictures of my groceries! Or toes in the pool!

And I couldn't see filtered pictures of what my friends were doing either!!  Ahhh!

Thankfully it's back.  Here's a peek of our week.

You can follow along with me on instagram as @aprettycoollife or on facebook as my pics post there.

ps. Of course I'm just being silly.  My thoughts are with those who really are suffering on account of this weekend's storms.

Gifting: Black Apple and baby

Baby Sister (me too!) loves the Black Apple dolls I made a while back.  (Find Emily Martin's free pattern via Martha here.)

So when our baby doll loving niece turned two recently, I made another Black Apple doll, complete with her own sweet little baby.

To make the baby, all I did was scale down the head and body of the original a bit and left off the arms and legs as if she's swaddled.  (Bonus: no teeny tiny arms and legs to turn and stuff!)  I sewed the mama's hands together so she can hold her baby, and was good to go.

And it's been a good year since our niece's last birthday...lots and lots of girly sewing for me. :)

Recipe: DIY sloppy joe mix

I showed my DIY sloppy joe mix on instagram a few weeks back.
As promised, here's the recipe.

It's so simple, no need to buy those little packets from the grocery store again. :)

Dried mustard in a ziploc on account of impatience and this project

You'll need:

2 tbsp dried minced onions
2 tbsp paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp dry mustard
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp celery seed
pinch chili powder (or more if you're brave)

Teeny salt shaker tute here.

Mix together the spices.

Brown 1 lb ground beef or turkey.  Drain any fat.  (And don't just pour it down the drain. Ahem.)

Add 1 1/2 cups ketchup, 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, 1/2 cup water, and the mix to the browned meat.

painted spoon shown here.

Simmer for 10ish minutes and enjoy!

Nice buns. ;)

Father's Day 2012

We hosted Father's Day dinner on Sunday.
I instagrammed about a million pics getting ready.
And now here's a half million pics of the fun we had taken with my real camera. :)
