The greenhouse

Yesterday I had an hour to myself.
So I went to the greenhouse.
Wandering up and down the rows and from house to house...all alone.
Ahhhhhh.

I brought my big camera and managed to take 73 pictures in the short time I was there...without the little photo bombers!  Ha.

I won't bore you with 73...maybe just half that. :)

All photos taken with my very favorite 50mm lens.

Memorial Day

I saw this image floating around my facebook feed today.

Beautiful.

So while I'm here enjoying my BBQs and long weekend, I'm also forever grateful for those who are not in the name of our freedom.

Instagram, week one

I have no idea what kept me away from Instagram for so long.
I'm loving it.

Here's a peek of our week in filtered iPhone pics.

Sprinkles and ice cream.
Doesn't get much more summer than that.

I'm already rocking a flip flop tan.
In May.
That and clean floors?  Life's good.

This guy was waiting for me as I finished a run.
Not nice.
He must be able to spot a girl with no willpower a mile away.

Somehow I managed to create polka dot petunias.
Huh?
(Apparently it's from fertilizer.)

Don't mind if I do.

A spoon?
A bowl?
Not this boy.
He doesn't need any help, thankyouverymuch.

My indecisiveness at an all time high.

Santa and his elves couldn't decide what color to paint Sister's baby doll bed.
Six months later, it's getting a makeover.

Another fancy shmancy recipe from my kitchen.
Chicken enchilada bake, straight off the Kraft shredded cheese bag.

Desperate to sew something, anything, I threw together this patriotic dress for Sister to wear Monday.

A long weekend.
With temps in the 80s.
What's not to be happy about?

Enjoy the rest of your long weekend, friends!
We already started. :)

What I Wore. Sort of.

We're in full on summer mode.
Me puttering in the garden.
The boys seeing just how quickly they can soak themselves with the hose.

Nothing more than a whole lot of shorts and tank tops while I'm getting a little sun.
But I do have my moments of actually getting dressed. ;)

Linking these with Lindsey.

Train table to Lego table DIY

In case you hadn't noticed, we're kind of crazy about Legos over here. :)

I posted an instagram photo of Sister standing at our Lego table earlier today...and realized I never shared this project.

It's seriously so easy and it's been such a big help to keep all our Legos in one spot.

Background:  Big Brother received this train table (which I highly recommend...comes with plenty of track, cars, and is compatible with all the Thomas cars) for his 2nd birthday.  It was fun until he realized building tracks from room to room and up and down hallways is way more fun.

So the table sat unused in storage for the past few years.  I debated getting rid of it until I realized it would be easy to re-purpose.

This isn't exactly a cheap project, since you're covering a pretty large area in Lego boards.  But I thoroughly researched the best place to buy, and 10" x10" base plates directly from Lego (or in person at a Lego Store) are the best deal you'll find.  Trust me. :)

All I did was generously spray the backs of the green boards with adhesive and then "tiled" the table top with the base plates.  If we ever want to use the table for trains, we can still flip it over.

The boards weren't exactly a match to the table's dimensions, so I ended up cutting smaller strips to fill in the edges.  Regular kitchen scissors cut through them easily.  Once the boards are down, the seams are pretty much unnoticeable.

And when we're done playing, two under bed boxes fit perfectly underneath the table for storage.
