Recipe: DIY sloppy joe mix
I showed my DIY sloppy joe mix on instagram a few weeks back.
As promised, here's the recipe.
It's so simple, no need to buy those little packets from the grocery store again. :)
Dried mustard in a ziploc on account of impatience and this project.
You'll need:
2 tbsp dried minced onions
2 tbsp paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp dry mustard
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp celery seed
pinch chili powder (or more if you're brave)
Teeny salt shaker tute here.
Mix together the spices.
Brown 1 lb ground beef or turkey. Drain any fat. (And don't just pour it down the drain. Ahem.)
Add 1 1/2 cups ketchup, 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, 1/2 cup water, and the mix to the browned meat.
painted spoon shown here.
Simmer for 10ish minutes and enjoy!
Nice buns. ;)

ReplyDeleteMade this for lunch today and sauteed a green pepper and onion along with the meat. Great mix and will be repeated.
