A useful dining room centerpiece
This has been our dining room centerpiece for awhile now.
Nothing that hasn't already been done a million times before, just a wooden crate filled with some mealtime essentials: trivets, napkins, straws, etc.
I realized I was spending the first minutes of every meal back and forth from the kitchen fetching forgotten things. Why didn't I think of this before?? Keeping everything together right on the table has made my life a teensy bit easier.
Now if only I could keep Sister from smearing the graham crackers in her hair...
Oops. Edited to add sources:
crate: Homegoods
trivets: Ikea
cracker jar: WalMart
aqua canister: vintage
rainbow straws: Ikea
napkin holder: World Market
napkins: hahahaha! Costco

I really like this! Where did you find your crate?
ReplyDeleteThis is a really nice centerpiece. I'm not sure how long those cookies would last in my house though. lol
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea - so neat and tidy and so practical!
ReplyDeleteI loved the idea of the crate
ReplyDeleteLove this idea. Since I drink everything, even coffee, with a straw, I seem to always have to head back to the kitchen for that or a napkin. I need to be on the lookout for a similar crate.
ReplyDeleteI like this sooo much easy access is the way to go!!! Where did you get your graham cracker jar? I love the apothecary jar look.
ReplyDeleteWhat a happy way to start a meal. I can't wait until we actually have a table to sit together at.
ReplyDeleteDid you get the crate recently? I have the same Walmart jar for my dog treats. Also, have the same ikea trivets (love them). Thanks for the idea! Totally stealing this one! Lol
ReplyDeleteThe crate is probably close to 4 yrs old, but I still see them every once in awhile, and at flea markets too!
DeleteThanks! Gonna start looking for something similar! I have a 1.5 and a 3.5 y/o and the funny thing is that just last night for dinner I spent more time getting up fetching things that everyone needed than actually eating my own dinner! Lol. This is the perfect solution. Don't know why I didn't think of it myself! Lol
DeleteGreat idea, and everything fits in the crate perfectly! I have those Ikea trivets, and I'd love to keep those and some napkins on the table. So much easier.
ReplyDeleteI found this on pinterest, but kept surfing because I love your blog! I'm terribly nosy; what's in the aqua canister?
ReplyDeleteLoved this idea so much that I made my own version and blogged about it - with a link to you of course! Love your blog and your simple vintage style!
