Random tip of the day

This stuff is awesome.

If the insides of your sewing machines tend to look like mine (this was my serger after one apron!), buy a can of compressed air--you can find it in the computer/electronics department.  A few shots inside, and all that excess lint and thread that's clogging your machine will be gone.

And apparently my two small children and I look like crazy glue huffers to the check out guy at Walmart, because I got carded buying this can.  Ha!

  1. I should check mine. I am sure that the poor thing needs to be oiled too. Thanks for the reminder.

  2. Cool! Never thought of that. And, I wonder if that lint is from MY apron? :)

  3. Just a little note about canned air... I used to work for a quilting machine manufacturer and the technical guys would always cringe when someone would use this stuff on their machine. Always remember to blow away and out of the machine, not up into the machine because you could blow thread and junk up into the gears and cause some real havoc into the inside of your machine. Don't just point and blow directly at the stuff, go from the top down.

That's all, I'll get off my soapbox now... :)

  10. You blow the lint into the machine head with that stuff. I bought this attachment that hooks to a vacuum hose. It is tiny and has both a little wand and one with a brush. It sucks all the junk right out.
