It's paella night!

This is one of my favorite recipes. I think I found it in some parenting magazine. It's super easy, super yummy and makes for really great leftovers.

You'll need:

2 tbsp. butter
1 box of Spanish Rice-A-Roni
1.5 cups water
2 cans Rotel diced tomatoes with jalapenos
1 can of corn, drained
1 package of Polska kielbasa (Hillshire Farm is great and is usually on sale!), sliced
1 lb. peeled, cooked tail-off shrimp

Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add rice mix (save flavor packet for next step) and brown according to package directions.

Increase heat to high and stir in water, tomatoes, and flavor packet. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to medium-low. Cover and simmer 15-20 minutes.

Stir corn, sausage and shrimp into rice and cook 5-10 minutes more, until liquid is absorbed and sausage and shrimp are heated through.

Voila! A great dinner in only about a half hour. Enjoy!

Surprise!

Mother Nature had a little trick up her sleeve overnight, and this was my view from the front porch when I got the paper this morning. I got spoiled by the 60 degree days of the past few weeks and thought spring had sprung. Luckily, it's melted already.

Arts and crafts fair coming up

I learned today that the local arts and crafts fair will be May 9th. I'm so excited to go! I'm hoping to get going on my etsy shop and actually (maybe?) be a seller at a fair by the end of the summer.

I have so many great ideas and projects; I just need to find the time to complete them!

One week down...

two more to go! Tommorow will mark our one week anniversary in the wonderful world of kitchen remodeling. For me, being kitchen-less is a major blow to my every day life, but I cannot wait for my new, shiny, Architectual Digest worthy kitchen to be complete! In the meantime, this is my dining room. Lovely addition, isn't it??

Taking the plunge

I'm giving in. Finally. I fought text messaging for years; it seemed silly and I couldn't see the point. Now I am hopelessly addicted. I had similar feelings about blogging, and, well, here I am.

It seems like I'm always a little late on the trends; I didn't even join facebook until last year, and twitter, well, I still don't quite get it. But after reading and admiring the blogs of others, I figure it's worth a shot to try for myself. I don't promise anything spectacular or mind blowing, just some thoughts, projects, pictures and maybe a little amusing commentary.

Here goes nothing.
