Mossy monogram wreath
The other day I made my first trip to Hobby Lobby. Ever. Can you believe it?
Among (many, many) other things, I came home with these goodies to make a mossy monogram wreath. I've always loved moss wreaths, and a monogram project or two, so this makes the perfect addition to our front door.
(And I realize this project may be a little Christmas-y, but I still love it!)
So here's what I did...
First, I sprayed my letter green, in case any happened to peek through the moss.
Then I fired up the ol' glue gun and started attaching clumps of the moss until it was full.
To attach the ribbon, I glued it in place on the back.
Then I looped it around.
And then once more so it would hang flat.
Then I glue gunned (is that even a term?) it to the top of my door. This project was so easy, and I love that it is a decoration that I can use no matter the season. The black and white gingham (which I actually did not buy to be festive for Halloween) can easily be changed. I can see a thick, red or green satin ribbon for Christmas and a pink grosgrain polka dot one for Valentine's. I love it when I can re-use decorations!
ps. Don't forget to check out DIY Day for more great ideas!

It looks cute. I can't believe you haven't ever been to Hobby Lobby - we go there about once a week! Love your monogram!
ReplyDeleteI love it. Looks a lot like one at Ballard Designs. Very clever.
ReplyDeleteO this is very cool!
ReplyDeleteThat is a greta project and it looks very sharp and classic. I love monograms and that's a great way to bring one to the front door. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteVery cute. I may steal this idea for a Christmas present for someone :)
ReplyDeleteSo creative!! I'm obsessed with monogrammed things and I may just have to make this my next project. Thanks for sharing!

ReplyDeleteI'm a W-how the hell would I attach the ribbon...lol.

The first time ever...did you fall in love? Great decoration and I love how you are planning on how to reuse it.
ReplyDeleteVery cute! I've always wanted to do think but our last name is an L so I'm stumped on how to hang an L from a ribbon! Ideas? Unless I can find a cursive L.
ReplyDeleteI've never thot of mossying up anything but this looked really cool. Great project for sure. I'll see if I can pull off a project using moss.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I really like this, but what do you do if your letter doesn't have a convenient place for the ribbon? I'm an "L," so do I need to attach a hook or something?
ReplyDeleteI love that! I'm not much for floral wreaths, so this would be perfect for me. I wish we had Hobby Lobby in VA!
ReplyDeleteWOW! I love it!!
ReplyDeleteLove it! I have the same "S", only mine is silver. I like it even better as a Mossy Monogram Wreath! :) Great project!

ReplyDeleteI LOVE this..now I'm going to have to make another trip to H.L.
ReplyDeleteOkay, this is the best! As a matter of fact I have been up in northern Minnesota this week and have harvested tons of moss from my Mom's woods. Now I have something to use my moss for. I have so much I could probably do the whole alphabet, ha, ha!!!!
ReplyDeleteToo cool! Great idea!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I would have never thought of the moss---but it looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteTwo of my favorite things coming together - moss and initials! Turned out so cute! Love the checked ribbon, too!

ReplyDeleteI've never been to a Hobby Lobby, but I'm sure that's probably for the best-from the sounds of it, it may be pretty devastating to my wallet!
Great idea, I love monograms!

Looks great! I just had this same thought the other day--kind of. I thought I would cut mine out of cardboard and cover with moss. You have motivated me--yours looks awesome!!
