Knitting for a dummy?

One of the nicest gifts I received after Little Guy #2 was born was this sweet handknit baby blanket from Project Linus.

Needless to say, I love his blankie and I love the organization. So to show my appreciation, I've decided I want to become a "blanketeer" and make blankies for other newborns and children in the hospital. Problem with that last statement? I have no idea how to knit.

I bought Knitting for Dummies at the $1 Spot at Target and I'm hoping it delivers. I am a dummy, so we're good in that department. Also, I'm pretty much self-taught when it comes to sewing (apologies to Mrs. Pietro, my 8th grade home ec teacher) and most other things crafty, so hopefully I'll get the hang of it quickly.

And for those of you who already know how to knit, consider becoming a blanketeer, too. Or maybe you could just come over to my house and teach the dummy. Or you could knit a pretty sweater for yours truly. You know, whatever.

ps. I'd love to hear any other tips or tricks or suggestions, too!

  1. Try crochet it's a lot easier I think. I tried to knit and got confused by the two needles!

  2. Now check out my blog for my newest (and only) crochet creation. I don't necessarily like to crochet - it's frustrating when the number of lines don't add up. BUT I've heard from a friend who is extraordinary at both that knitting is easier. I don't know. I suggest trying both.

AND I just got a yellow blanket from Project Linus for our new little guy or gal. I think it's amazing and when I have more time (you know, 3-4 months down the line when baby sleeps through the night), I'd really like to be a blanketeer, too.

Great post about a great organization!
